Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 11, 1981, Kelly Rowland moved to Houston with her mother and brother at the age of eight after her mother left her abusive father. At the age of just 11, Rowland joined a girl group called Girl’s Tyme, which featured on the talent show ‘Star Search’ in 1992. This girl group also included Beyoncé Knowles and her sister Solange. When she was 14, Rowland moved in with the Knowles family. Beyoncé’s father, who was managing Girl’s Tyme, cut the group from six members to four.
